About the project

HelvetiPay provides payment infrastructure to Swiss SMEs — mainly hospitality, retail and small clinics. Their product was solid, but a new merchant needed eleven working days and four PDF forms to go live, and roughly a third abandoned the process. The marketing site was also two products behind and spoke in compliance language nobody outside the company understood. We rebuilt the public site and the merchant onboarding as one continuous experience, added document classification that reads uploaded commercial register extracts automatically, and set up a support assistant trained on their own knowledge base. Time to first transaction fell from eleven days to under twenty minutes for standard cases, and support ticket volume dropped by more than a third.

What we did

  • Development

We built the onboarding as a resumable multi-step flow on Next.js, with server-side validation against the commercial register and a state machine that survives a browser crash mid-application. Everything runs in a Swiss data centre with audit logging on every state transition. The marketing site and the application share one deployment pipeline, so a pricing change never goes live in only one of them.

  • Design

The visual system was rebuilt around a single idea: show the merchant where they are and what is still missing, at every moment. Compliance requirements are explained in plain German and French next to the field that needs them, not in a linked PDF. We delivered a documented component library that the in-house team now ships new screens with.

  • AI Automation

Uploaded documents are classified and read automatically, so a commercial register extract pre-fills nine fields the merchant used to type by hand. A support assistant answers product questions from the company knowledge base and hands over to a human the moment a question touches limits, chargebacks or pricing exceptions. Everything runs on EU and Swiss infrastructure with no training on customer data.

What they say about us

5.0
Our compliance team is not easy to please, and they signed off on the new flow without a single blocking comment. That has never happened here before. The document reader alone removed nine form fields, and our completion rate tells the rest of the story.
